The Cradle of Liberty Scout Council Serves 67,000 boys in Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties—75% of these boys are African-American, the vast majority of which live in the inner city.
 
We the undersigned, as residents of the above listed counties, strongly urge you, Mayor Street, to take the actions necessary before you leave office to stop the attacks on the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council (COLBSA).  In light of the record number of homicides in your city this year, you should be working with an organization that helps keep kids off the streets instead of demanding $200,000 in rent or eviction from the headquarters they built and have occupied since 1929 on property the City Council gave them free use of ‘in perpetuity’ or forever.   The Cradle of Liberty Scout Council’s decision to follow national policy and ban homosexual leaders is in the best interest of the boys in their Scouting programs.

The decision to charge an exorbitant rent or evict the Boy Scouts goes beyond the City of Philadelphia, and affects the three counties COLBSA serves (Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties).
