GLSEN Activities
'Day of Silence' and 'No Name Calling Week'

NOTE:  The AFA of PA believes that all students should be provided a safe learning environment.  But telling students that 'gay is okay' is not providing such an environment.
Engaging in homosexual acts shortens the lives of the male participants by up to 20 years.  Additional health issues include anal cancer for males and increased uterine and breast cancer for women.  Did you know that the CDC states that 68% of HIV/AIDS cases are men who have sex with men?  Syphilis and gonorrhea are running rampant in the homosexual community and there are increased risks of substance abuse, eating and psychological disorders and domestic violence -- even in countries such as the Netherlands where homosexuality is widely accepted.  These 'inconvenient statistics' are never presented to students when GLSEN is telling students who think they might be 'gay' 'just accept it you were born that way.'  Where are the responsible adults?

The Day of Silence is the 'brainchild' of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN).  It is a day set aside during the school year for students to remain silent to show their support of homosexual 'rights.' It is usually held the third Wednesday of April.  It started in colleges, is now in thousands of high schools and is filtering down to the middle school level.  Is your child's school participating?  Until 2007 GLSEN proudly displayed the names of all participating schools on their website.  See below for a list of PA schools that have participated in the past.

No Name Calling Week is also the brainchild of GLSEN.  This week targets the middle schools with an anti-bullying message.  But it also includes lessons about same-sex families and gay and lesbian children.

2008 Gay Day of Silence if April 25.  The AFA of PA has been able to obtain a list of Pennsylvania schools participating in the Day of Silence.  Remember school administrators may not know their school is on this list.  Click here for PA public schools.  Click here for PA private schools.

Gay Day of Silence -- 3.27.07 -- AFA of PA joins national pro-family coalition NotOurKids.com, asking parents to keep their kids home from school on this year's Day of Silence on April 18, if their child's school is actively participating or permitting Day of Silence activities to take place.

Pennsylvania Participants 2003 , 2004, 2005 , 2006 (During this week in 2006 Risk Audit Project introduced as a tool to expose Day of Silence and other pro-homosexual actions in schools!)  In 2007 GLSEN did not list the participating schools in its website, but the AFA of PA was able to verify that several schools did participate.   Increasingly GLSEN had come under fire from school administrators and principles for listing schools as participating and the school district knows nothing about it.  Click here for 2007 list.

March 1-5, 2004 --GLSEN's first annual "No Name Calling Week" geared towards students grades 5-8.  Included in the resource packet is a 25-question survey.  The "About You" section asks for the child's sex -- they can answer "Male," "Female," or "Other"!  The child is also asked to write down his "Religion." How will this information be used?  Partners for this week long event include Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Big Brother/Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Human Rights Watch, Children's Defense Fund.  Check out their website.
GLSEN will not reveal the names of the schools participating - what are they trying to hide?
